Welcome to Growing Notes Music Lessons! Sara teaches private saxophone lessons and small ensembles to students wishing to excel at their instrument. She strives to provide quality instruction at a reasonable price.

What to Expect in a Lesson

In a lesson, you should expect to be exposed to many different musical concepts. These topics include, but are not limited to: technique, tone, musicality, theory and practice habits. As our lessons progress I will identify the way you learn best and present these concepts in the appropriate way. I ask many questions throughout the lesson to make sure you understand the concept and can perform it to the best of your ability. You can expect me to be honest, but gentle. If I do not believe you are giving your full effort, I will tell you. But I also understand that everyone has bad days and I adjust the lesson to be the most productive use of your time.

Parental involvement (or a support system) is also extremely beneficial to the student. I find that if someone is asking the student what they played today or helping them identify problems during their practice time, the lessons become a lot more productive. A genuine interest can be the difference between enjoyment of music and frustration.
